I come from a graphic design career having working in large and small agencies also freelancing (even before the benefit of computers), producing advertising for other people and their products, some good, some not so good,.

In each of my illustrations I incorporate photographs of everyday objects, a lot of stuff that tends to be ignored: wheels, barrels, wooden boxes, rusting scrap metal, knobs, chains, broken down equipment and discarded objects, combined with sky images, I live in S Germany on the edge of the Alps, here we have fantastic skies with amazing clouds so varied and dramatic as with the ever changing landscapes,
I travel lots and photograph as much as my memory cards will allow (including family of course) I visit many technical, industrial and natural history museums and for animal photographs I go to zoos with a zoom lens, it’s cheaper than going to Africa although the skies and landscapes are quite unique there.
These photographs are my building blocks.

To say that I enjoy producing the images would be quite an understatement, each creation tends to be a battle between a strong initial concept and a set of images that may or may not fit the concept but tend to dictate the direction of the whole creation. Generally it works perfectly as planned, however sometimes not quite as planned, but that is the nature of things. I enjoy seeing what will become of an idea.

I try to add metaphorical touches and juxtaposed forms which hopefully add to the interpretation of the work. I’m not interested in creating disgust or shock, I am more interested in creating unusual and fascinating images that are slightly ironic with a subtle blend of humour
